Your notification history is processed locally.
NotiFox captures notifications from other apps only after you enable Android's Notification Access for NotiFox. It uses those notifications to build a searchable history on your device. NotiFox does not require an account, include advertising or analytics SDKs, or provide cloud sync.
Notifications can contain personal or sensitive information, including message previews and images. Anyone able to unlock your device or access its app data may be able to read your NotiFox history.
NotiFox saves what it needs to show and search notifications.
Depending on what the source app places in a notification, the local archive may contain:
Titles, message or body text, expanded text, and other readable notification text supplied by Android.
The source app's name and package name, notification time, and a technical notification key used to track updates and avoid duplicate saves.
A bounded, sometimes compressed copy of a picture or artwork exposed by the notification, when NotiFox can read it. Not every image is available to a listener.
Whether archive status and Auto Dismiss are enabled, whether Auto Dismiss applies to all apps, and package names you select for individual dismissal.
The Auto Dismiss page reads installed app names, package names, and icons from Android to show its app list. The full installed-app list is not uploaded; selected package names are stored locally as preferences.
Android controls whether NotiFox can read notifications.
You grant or revoke Notification Access in Android system settings. While access is granted, Android may send NotiFox newly posted notifications, updates to notifications that remain visible, and notifications already active when the listener reconnects. NotiFox does not save its own notifications.
NotiFox uses the captured information for its history, on-device search, duplicate and update handling, app counts, and the optional features described below. Revoking access stops future capture while access remains off; it does not automatically erase history already saved.
Extra notification controls are off unless you enable them.
Auto Dismiss
If enabled, Auto Dismiss attempts to remove eligible notifications from Android's notification panel after NotiFox saves them. You can apply it to all apps or choose individual apps. Notifications may appear or alert briefly before removal, and Android may keep ongoing or protected notifications visible. Dismissed notifications remain in your NotiFox history until you delete them.
Archive status notification
If enabled, NotiFox shows a persistent summary in the notification panel with the saved count, recent source-app icons, and latest activity time. This summary may also be visible on the lock screen depending on your Android notification settings. You can turn it off in NotiFox Settings.
The archive stays in NotiFox's private app storage.
NotiFox stores notification records and saved image data in an on-device Room database. Search uses a local full-text index. Preferences are kept in Android app-private preferences. The app does not transmit this archive to SWFN Studio, does not offer an account or cloud sync, and does not request Android's Internet permission.
Android app sandboxing and your device's security settings protect access to this storage. NotiFox does not add a separate password or encryption layer to the database. The current Android app configuration disables automatic app backup.
Each access supports a visible app feature.
- Notification Access: granted through Android's system screen so NotiFox can read and save notifications from other apps.
- Post notifications: used to show the optional archive-status notification on Android versions that require this permission.
- Installed-app visibility: used to list source apps and offer individual Auto Dismiss controls, including apps without a launcher icon.
- Foreground service: used when the live archive-status notification is active.
Notification Access and notification display can be managed in Android settings. Auto Dismiss and archive status have separate switches in NotiFox Settings.
Saved entries remain until you remove them.
NotiFox does not automatically expire saved notification history. You can delete a notification from its menu or select multiple notifications and delete them in the app. Deleting an entry also removes its associated saved image from the active database records.
Revoking Notification Access prevents future capture but keeps existing history. To remove all local NotiFox data, clear the app's storage in Android settings or uninstall NotiFox. NotiFox does not keep a server copy from which your archive could be restored.
NotiFox is not designed for children.
NotiFox does not provide child accounts or knowingly receive children's notification histories on a SWFN Studio server. The person controlling the device decides whether to grant Notification Access.
This policy will change if NotiFox's data handling changes.
We may update this policy if NotiFox adds or changes features that affect notification access, local storage, sharing, permissions, or network use. The effective date above identifies the current version.
